Hi everybody!

As you have seen there is not so many news on the blog lately! There is two reasons for that:

- First one is that I'm pretty lazy, tired and running after the time so when I'm in front of my computer I play Pro Evolution Soccer or I watch LA Ink!
- Second one is that I'm leaving Dubai to .... Abu Dhabi!

Well that's why I'm working on my new project that is www.emiratesinstyle.blogspot.com!

It will be more of a lifestyle blog covering my taste as usual but also a really edgy coverage on what could be the "best of" in living (Art, Fashion, Party, bit of politics, design, music...)
I will probably link it to my personnal experiences around the world so see you there!

PS: In between I will probably keep on posting here from time to time so come back until I tell you that I'm gone!

A night at the Dubai Tennis Championships...

So yesterday I was nicely invited in VIP stand at the Dubai Tennis Championships to see Federer playing Murray! I like the tennis season here in Dubai even if with the time it become very hard for me to find tickets (Free ones you understand me!) :)

So I here are the players...

At the end of the match I've seen Richard Gasquet our French number 1 entering the stadium...

Then Roger leaving with you can imagine not really the mood to sign anything (He lose in case you are not following the news)

So we head up to the Jacob's Creek bar to forget it...

But look for the game of Gasquet against whoever everybody were gone!

But we finished with a nice (average in fact) dinner at The Cellar at the Aviation Club

Is it Jazz?

I can understand that a Jazz Festival invite people that are not Jazzman if it is in a way related to Jazz (Funk, Hiphop...) but yesterday I was for the second night at the Dubai Jazz Festival and I was surprised!

On the first night there was a Flamenco/Rumba band from Canada! Well is it jazz? And why from Canada and not from Spain!? No big deal...

Yesterday I knew that I was going to see David Gray, so I asked my friend, who is this Dude? Nobody could tell me! So I said to myself "He might be a new Jazz star!"

Well not really he is just another pop artist... quite an interesting style if you like this style but definitely not a Jazzman!

DUBAI, Stop calling a pop festival a JAZZ FESTIVAL!!!!!

And for the one who don't know what I'm talking about look at the shot and don't tell me it's Jazz!

Renowned British DJ jailed for four years for possession of marijuana

Dubai: A famous British disc jockey will spend four years in prison for bringing in and possessing 2.16 grams of marijuana, a court ruled yesterday.

The Dubai Court of First Instance found the 40-year-old DJ guilty of bringing in and possessing marijuana for personal use, as charged by the Public Prosecution.

The accused, who will be deported after serving his term, claimed he was unaware that he possessed marijuana which was seized from him at Dubai International Airport.

"I did not know the drugs were in my possession," R.W. told the court earlier.

Medical reports said tetra-hydro cannabinol, an active component of hashish, was found in the defendant's urine.

R.W.'s lawyers Mohammad Al Redha and Mohammad Al Suwaidi presented their defence earlier this month.

Al Redha and Al Suwaidi said they had been asked not to give any statements to the media.

However, the lawyers argued in their defence: "The suspect forgot the substance was in his pants and had no intention of bringing it to Dubai... he brought it here by mistake and forgot to remove it...he didn't have evil motives..."

A 24-year-old customs inspector testified: "The accused came at the arrivals terminal on November 23, 2007, around 8.40pm. I asked him for his passport and took him to the search room.

"I didn't find anything when I searched him personally. I found the marijuana in his luggage. When I confronted him with the findings, he said it was marijuana and for his personal use. He claimed that he mistakenly forgot it was in his trousers."

The customs inspector said the suspect admitted to him that "he takes marijuana in Britain."

So there we go Grooverider will spend his time in Dubai... When you know that an American Producer manage to escape from his jail term by paying when he was caught with Cocaine you can ask yourself what I'm asking myself!

So yesterday we decided to hit the road to find trace of Graffiti in the deep end of UAE! We decided to try to find trace in Diba! Don't ask me where it is I still don't know...

See what we found! If it is again the law please let me know because I don't know what is written! But to conclude we can say that we are still pretty much at the Rocks age of Graffiti here! Look at that!

To be honest when I first saw the rendering in the catalog of this pair I was not at all convinced but then we got those pictures on Patta blog on slamXhype and my taste started to change!

And now I do have to say that I really like them! Funny isn't it!

Ok pay attention because they come from Patta in lovely Amsterdam and because Parra selected the colors this pairs is highly Hyped! So don't buy it if you don't love it! There's no point!

But honestly without any hype factor the pair is hot. I love it!

You can find them in all your hot Quickstrike account around the world for around 170 euros in Europe for exemple... but not in Dubai!

Well thanks to Le journal du geek I've just read this news! As I just broke my phone and wait for my bonus to come it might arrive on time!

So here is the news:
HTC will launch (In Europe at least maybe in the Gulf also?) their new P3470 aka Pharos this month.

It only got EDGE (But 3 and 3,5G is useless for me here) but the other figures (GPS, APN 2Mg, Tuner FM, Micro Sd port and Windows Mobile Pro) looks good for what I do with my phone!

Price tag: 449Euros so approx 2425AED!

Next to The Palace and Burj Dubai you have Souk Al Bahar... It is the newest shopping / Lifestyle destination in Dubai and you find there future good restaurant and club and also Boutique for tourist and high end consumer!

I was there today and it is one of the "highest potential" area of Dubai!

Here is some inside pics for the general feeling,

Some shops and cafe already open... Yes the first one is the Lamborghini one! Carribou, Starbucks and the rest are there but Lamborghini ouah!!!

50C is probably the most interesting shop in the mall but as they didn't let me take picture I just can say that it is some kind of a mini kinda "I wanna be" Colette with a lot less but at least something...

Havaianas the top Brasilian FlipFlop have a shop... I didn't check the price as I was afraid but the shop and product looked good!

Luxury as usual... We can't even say how many shops are selling Vertu in this country, it's unbelievable!!!

And this is what I still understand as we are leaving in a muslim country under the Sharia law!

Then I have a scoop, well I think so, well I don't know...

A club will open in the souk and it is Le Milliardaire!

For the Parisian (and the others) you might know this club located next to the Champs Elysees, it was a pretty high profile club at one point, last time I went (3 years ago) I had a fight with some "I'm too beautiful so Shut Up" 18 years old guys but overall it was a top night spot of Paris night life!
It is own by the same that have Regine's, Les Planches in Deauville, Le Redlight and Le Bus Palladium... means some of the most famous club in Paris even if in my opinion it far from being interesting club for the French capital...

Anyway as in Dubai you need to be easy on the destination you choose I think it will be a good place to hang around with beautiful people, crack beautiful girls and show your new high profile sneakers!

In case I'm right and it is the same French people opening it check their website here! Otherwise, I don't know...

I was not into Basketball, I was just thinking that by writing on the wall I might have to run fast, by having a skateboard under my feet I might need some kicks so those were hot for me but really too expensive (Like 999frs or 850AED) and now:

Taste of Dubai 08

Here is a small overview of Taste of Dubai 08 that I attend yesterday!

I had an invitation thanks to Carlo from Tavola because I wouldn't have paid 150AED (around 30 euros) to eat overpriced mini portion of food from 14 different Dubai's restaurant!

Ok the setup was nice, the temperature was around 10 degree ( -10 for Dubai), it was more trendy than the usual suit of boardshort flipflop, the girls were beautiful as usual (not all of them of course) but honestly what's the point of having 14 mini mini restaurant and paying around 25 euros to get in to pay 6 euros for something that won't be noticed by your stomach even if it is really good...

I always loved American football and even if I get stocked with the Washington Redskins and the San Francisco 49rs back in the 80's when Canal+ was showing the game on Saturday evening I have to tell you that I'm happy that the New York Giants have won the XLII Superbowl!

I haven't been able to see the game (well 40 minutes out of 4hours only) but the ends (literally) seems to have been something crazy!

Anyway well done the Giants and well done Victoria Secret, you have been awarded the best half time add by a lot of people!

The biggest fun of the year so far !!!!!

To explain:
A 16-year-old boy is facing charges of producing child pornography and creating a public nuisance following a wild party in Melbourne's outer suburbs last weekend.

The teenager and another 16-year-old boy were arrested today and questioned by police over their role in the party, which ended with police cars and neighbours' property being damaged. Up to 30 police officers, a police helicopter and the dog squad were sent to the venue on Saturday night after neighbours raised the alarm.

The event, which was advertised by SMS and on internet social networking site MySpace, attracted as many as 500 revellers and has made news around the world.

"Detectives have interviewed two 16-year-old youths over incidents on the weekend. One male has been charged with producing child pornography and creating a public nuisance," a police statement, released tonight, read.

The first boy had been bailed to appear at a children's court on February 22, while a brief was being prepared in relation to the other boy, the statement added.

Today's arrests capped a mad four days with the law finally catching up with one of the youths.

The teenage party host - who cannot be named for legal reasons - was initially unrepentant about the affair, adopting a cavalier attitude towards authorities and his parents, who at the time were on holiday interstate, as he cultivated his new-found fame.

He maintained a public profile, appearing on television and radio as well as spending time at the beach with friends, and making international headlines.

After a nearly five-hour grilling at Narre Warren police station, one of the two teens arrested was bundled into the front passenger seat of a marked squad car, which left at high speed, shaking off a pack of pursuing media cars.

Earlier this week, Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon lambasted the teenager who held the party for his lack of remorse and threatened to bill him up to $20,000 for damages and the cost of deploying police.

His parents - who also cannot be named for legal reasons - met with police yesterday and said: "We think he should be punished. We have our own views on what should happen and will discuss it with the police."

Nakheel is a main developper of Dubai and a private part of Dubai governement... I'm not interested in telling what and who they are because you just have to click on their name to learn that!

What I want you to know is that they have launch Blue Communities and I think we should really support this initiative!

In few words:

Well here we go! My dream will come true for the next snowboard season!

Nike seems to start a snowboard boots division and their first model is based on my favourite AF1!

Ok the first colorway is 50/50, the black and white's looks quite good and the last colorway kinda sucks imo however I love the idea of having my AF1 on my feet when I ride!

Well the UAE internet network is already crap compared to what I was used to back in Europe but when the cable got screwed in Egypt is it even worth and so that is why there isn't much news (see Gulf news article if you want more info)...

Guys It's Dubai Shopping Festival! If you have a little bit of cash left go and spend it in the malls!

Sales are up to 70%, there is special animation and concert like Santana live... and the city take the DSF colors as you can see on the picture!

Raining time in Dubai...

So it's raining time in Dubai... so strange! The temperature go down to 9 degre at 5:00am (Thanks Mat for letting me know) and everybody is sick!

Well it's pretty normal that everybody's sick as the world is visiting us and bring all their microbes (French word isn't it? I don't know in English), personnaly I fight against it so, touch wood, I'm ok...

Otherwise this weekend (Yeah I had 2 days off thanks to the Muslim New Year) was pretty quiet...

I went with Cindy C. to waterside at Al Murooj Rotana. It's a sea food restaurant and even if the dishes looks quite interesting the quality is just average... But the location worth it...

Then we went to C. Bar it was good but the night life of Dubai is still not full of Sxx DrxG and RocknRoll imo so it was ok...

Next day I just meet with my friend Mat...

So let's start first by the beginning at Dubai Airport... we started with 4 hours delay thanks to Mihin Lanka (Airlines low cost) but it gave us the opportunity to know why in french we have an expression called "La file indienne"!

But as you can see from the face of my friend Yaya we are very happy to go! He came from my birth place Strasbourg! for the holidays in Sri Lanka and also to visit for the first time Dududubaiiii ;)

My seat neighbour in the plane was a Sri Lankan working in Dubai, his name is David! Thank you to him as he help us grabbing a cheaper taxi to Hikkaduwa...

And here is the view from our guesthouse bar, the guesthouse is the PalmBeach and you can book it here... Honestly I really recommend it!

I went on Friday (Well my only day off!) and it was cool!

First of all you had to leave your skate at the door:

But not for the good reasons!

In fact, he was caught at the Dubai Airport with some weed and a porn movie in his record bag when he was on his way to play at Chi @ The Lodge!

For the ones that don't know, even with 0.01gr of weed you have a good chance to end up in jail here! So if you add a porn movie on top I'm not sure that they will let you go!

I hope that he will be able to leave the country but I wish him to be strong because it might not be easy to think that you might spend the next 4 years behind 4 walls!
